All-Clad Electric Skillet

skillet.jpg

I recently had the opportunity to try out the All-Clad Electric Skillet, and the first thing that struck me was just how gorgeous it is! I’m not going to tell you what brand my old electric skillet was, because it looks like the ugly step-sister in comparison. And it cooked like her too!

My new skillet is Cinderella, all dressed up for the ball. You just know that inside that beautiful dress is a woman who can cook like a champ. It definitely didn’t disappoint me :-)

For my trial run, I made risotto. Usually I make it in a heavy skillet or saucepot on the stove, so I was interested to see whether the heat would be even and steady enough to allow me to make this easy buy fiddly dish. I made Risotto with Parmesan and Cheese, and as you can see from the picture, it turned out perfect.

All-Clad reports that they are the only complete line of cookware made by an American company with materials produced in their own mills. Their metal bonding process eliminates uneven heating, and has made their products the ones chosen for the kitchen of more four-star restaurants than any others! The capacity of the skillet is 6 quarts, so you can easily make a one-skillet meal for your entire family in just this cooker alone.

The risotto you made looks yummy. I never owned an electric skillet before or all-clad and you make it sound fantastic. Our family gathers over here at least once a week for dinner and I cook for my husband and son everyday. It would be great to step away from the stove and try something different.

why would anyone buy this or any electric skillet for $300+ that has a hump in the middle of the pan’s bottom causing oil to pool to the sides. Reviews from other store’s websites all refer to this “hump” problem. I emailed Allclad…their response “that’s the way the pan was engineered with no plans to change it”. I’ll take my $300 elsewhere, thank you!

I love the All Clad stainless cookware I own and was thrilled when they started offering electrics. I have been wanting to add an electric skillet to my collection, but have been waiting for the “perfect” model. This is the one I want, but unfortunately it’s not in the budget right now. Thanks for posting the review!!!
