Angelina Jolie Runs on Red Meat

Though studies have proven that, on average, vegetarians live longer than their carnivorous counterparts, Angelina Jolie claims that she was unhealthy when she was a vegan: “I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found that I was not getting enough nutrition.” Angelina also said that she loves red meat, especially steak.

So Angie, what the hell were you eating while you were ditching the animal products? Popping rice cakes and lettuce isn’t going to cut it if you’re eating a strictly plant-based diet. But, as Ecorazzi points out, it’s possible to have a very healthy diet without animal products.

Do you know any vegans who don’t plan their diets to make sure they’re getting enough nutrients?

    She’s pretty busy standing around for photographs, so she doesn’t have time to educate herself about good food choices. It’s not on her agenda, because no one’s paying attention to her brain.
    Being vegan means you can’t be lazy or take shortcuts in your eating habits. Meat is human’s “default” setting to get enough B12 and protein… Takes time to roam around finding enough beans and rice … faster to just kill a sentient being.
