When my inlaws gave us an electric kettle many years ago, my first thought was, “Oh thanks…something else to sit on the counter.” Was I ever wrong! Not that it doesn’t sit on the counter – it does – but we use it a dozen times each day, so that’s alright.
I use it constantly. I love it. I dread the day when it decides that it has heated its last cup. And still…
There’s always something new to covet. I just found the Chef’s Choice Smart Kettle, which allows you to actually set the temperature of the water rather than just boiling it. I know that different teas like different temperatures to bring out their best flavor, but I never really paid too much attention until I saw this clever chart that Kitchen Kapers has on their website along with the kettle.

I have an electric kettle and love it! I use it primarily for coffee and tea but it has come in handy for cleaning up after sticky cooking. Alton Brown has one that he boils eggs in, set it and forget it!
