Luscious Chocolate Smoothies

I like getting notifications of new things, especially when they involve chocolate. I recently got a notice of a new cookbook that’s just been released, and it’s all about chocolate smoothies!

chocolatesmoothies

Luscious Chocolate Smoothies, written by Gabriel Constans, is the first of its kind, and includes quite a bit more than your standard recipe collection. Constans shares anecdotes and stories, including how he came to love chocolate so much and his earliest memories of it (including an ill-fated theft attempt!).

The book explains the taste and benefits of dark chocolate and how chocolate can be balanced with fruits, nuts, tofu, liquor, juices and other unique combinations to create refreshing, mouth watering drinks appropriate for everyone.

The book would be a fantastic addition to a Valentine’s Day gift for a loved one, or take it a step further and prepare a recipe or two to serve for breakfast or dessert!

Burning the Midnight Oil

1/2 cup chocolate syrup
3 frozen bananas
1 tablespoon soy protein powder
2 cups strong brewed coffee
1 tablespoon mint extract
1 small brownie
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

~ Place all the ingredients in a blender and mix on medium speed for 1 minute.

~ Pour into tall glasses and serve. Be prepared for unexpected fits of dancing.

Yield: 4 cups

* To make frozen bananas, peel and chop the bananas, seal in plastic bags and place in the freezer until frozen.
