Recalled Tea Kettles

A series of tea kettles are being recalled. It seems that the handles are not secure and they can fall off resulting in hot water being spilled and severe burns.

One of the kettles being recalled

Involved in the is recall are:
  • Martha Stewart Collection
  • Copco
  • Wild Leaf Tea Co.

The kettles are enamel and made in Thailand. They were sold in a number of different stores, including Macy’s and Linens N Things. Retail price was $35.00.

If you bought an enamel tea kettle between October 2005 and January 2010 then you might want to get more information on the Consumer Product Safety Commission site. The kettle pictured  is an example of one of the kettles that is being recalled, although they were manufactured in a number of colors.

What I want to know is why it took FIVE years to figure out there was a problem and initiate a recall? Five years? Really?

Ugh.

Good to know – fortunately mine isn’t in the recall.

I’ve posted a link to your article on my site – the more that know, the better!
