Russell Brand Plans To Go Vegan Like Ellen Thanks To “Forks Over Knives” Doc

According to some late-Sunday night tweets, Russel Brand and Katy Perry watched the documentary Forks Over Knives yesterday, and Brand was so motivated by the film that he’s decided to go completely vegan (his wife is already a vegetarian).

Brand, who was already a known vegetarian, announced his decision via twitter, mentioning Ellen (a vegan who, like Brand, is also into yoga and meditation) as an inspiration:

The documentary, which was released earlier this year, outlines how a vegan diet can resolve so many of America’s major health problems. The film’s director, Lee Fulkerson, even switched to a vegan diet while making the film, and maintains that the switch isn’t difficult, especially considering the benefits:

[It wasn't] that hard for me to switch. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t have a deep, emotional attachment to my food, so once I found a few plant-based things that I liked, I found it pretty ease to stick with them. [It's given me] better energy—able to maintain a healthy weight (around 200 lbs) without counting calories, and I feel better overall.

It is such a healthy lifestyle, provided you make sure you get your required amount of protein which is easy if you have half a brain. Guilt-free, healthy, and tasty :)

This trend is really picking up…I have not gone totally vegan but I have cut down on the amount of meat that I eat…One nice benefit of eating less meat is that I have found that my food bill is significantly less.
