Did you know that Pistachios are considered the “skinny nut?” A serving size of Pistachios is 49 nuts, while a serving of Almonds is 23 nuts, and 14 Walnuts. That’s a much more satisfying snack, in my opinion. In addition, the process of removing the shell to get to the nut makes it a “mindful” snack – you can’t just scoop up a handful and toss it in your mouth. Eating mindfully means you can eat up to 50% less and still feel satisfied.

*Contains more antioxidants than one cup of green tea
*Offers more lutein than three medium tangerines or a glass of orange juice
*Pistachios contain mono unsaturated fats, the “good” fats” that can help lower total cholesterol
*Pistachios are a low glycemic index food
*Studies show that nut consumption is associated with a lower body mass index and do not increase body weight

My favorite healthy snack is fresh fruit in bite size pieces. . .cherries & grapes, watermelon and pineapple cut into bite size chunks are a sweet refreshing treat!
