Christmas Cookies

Joy of Cooking Christmas Cookies

I think that this cookie book has great recipes, but I don’t like how it’s written out. In most cookbooks, the ingredients are listed at the top or side. In this cookbook, the ingredients are listed as they are called for. As in it goes,

Thouroughly stir together:
3 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Using an electric mixer, beat together until well blended and fluffy:
1 1/4 cups butter, softened…

The steps were not numbered, and it makes no references to “other bowls.” It was unclear and rather confusing; I had to read through a recipe twice before I realized that the flour mixture was seperate from the butter mixture, as it had sounded as though it were all supposed to be mixed in one bowl the first time through.

Just make sure you read and understand the recipes before doing anything, including preparing the ingredients. ;P
