Thai Breakfast Cereal ( Nam Tao Hu Song Crueng ) from Appon at Khiew Chanta
The tapioca, having been soaked overnight, cooks really quickly, so be careful not to overcook or it will turn into a sticky, gluey mess. I’m not thrilled with the somewhat medicinal taste of the grass jelly and would prefer agar instead. But I had a can of grass jelly, and another of ai yu jelly — still trying to decide what to do with the latter.

Hi Lisanne
Good question. Could anyone from Thailand answer this for us?
Thanks
Tom

Is this an authentic Thai breakfast? I’m doing some food research, and wondered what is a ‘normal’ and traditional Thai b’fast dish…but this looks good!

Ces, the recipe is at the link — it’s from Appon’s blog. Very simple — just soak the tapioca, cook, then combine with the grass jelly in warm soy milk.
yes Bee and Christine, it’s dessert breakfast:D — any excuse to eat sweets besides after meals is welcome LOL.
