The “new” turquoise

Turquoise, a very popular color for kitchen accessories in the 50s, has come back in a big way.  Pantone, the color forecasting giant, has announced that turquoise, or more specifically Pantone 15-5519 Turquoise, is the Color of the Year for 2010!

It’s tough, if not impossible, to find large appliances in turquoise, but there are lots and lots of kitchen accessories that are popping up.  You certainly could resurface your cabinets or paint your walls if you’d like.  I also thought you might enjoy a few inspiration pictures and links, just in case you redo your kitchen each time there’s a color shift ;-)

I’m a big fan of turquoise and brown, I had every intention of doing my kitchen in those colors with Le Creuset being the focal points in Caribbean and Chestnut, unfortunately they discontinued Chestnut shortly after I decided to start my collection. So rather than ditch my retro kitchen plans I decided on Cerise and Caribbean to match a cute little vintage apron of mine. I get all of my Le Creuset (and cute aprons) from The Cook’s Warehouse in Atlanta, Ga.
