Miniature animals are definitely cute — remember the world’s smallest horse? But some farmers think that mini cows could be the the answer to all of the environmental problems that full size cows create. Ten miniature cows can be raised on the same land that could be home to two full sized cows, which means that they produce three times as much beef while only using a third of the feed.
Also, it takes 10 mini cows to create the same amount of methane produced by one normal-sized cow. And, apparently, beef from the little cows tastes delicious. The larger the cow, the longer the muscle cells — shorter cells make the beef more tender.
It’s funny that the solution to the environmental problems caused by cattle could be found in tiny cows as opposed to the giant, hormone-filled monster cows that are used to produce most beef now. Do you think that mini cow farming will catch on?
