Where’s The Beef? Reasons Why We Gave Up Vegetarianism For Good

We know why many Blisstree readers gave up meat and went veg, but after awhile of  smooching sprouts, loving leeks, and kissing kiwis, many vegetarians can hear their body’s crying out for that zesty tang of animal flesh. Some say fish is the “gateway drug” that gets them back to beef, others say they had certifiable conditions that required a meaty solution. Here’s what Blisstree readers had to say about their choice to give up vegetarianism, and beef things up a bit.

I don’t get it. Veggies going back to meat because of cravings? Has nobody heard of faux meat? Tofurky, Boca, and literally dozens of brands (not to mention homemade stuff like garbanzo+nori faux-fish) are too easy and delish to resist.

P.S. I caught the jibe at how “veg food isn’t hearty”. I have no idea what you’ve been eating if you think that.

I have to sayI am not a fan of the faux meat products. They don’t taste enough like meat to satisfy and if anything intensify my cravings for the real thing. We don’t have a huge range of faux meat where I live but most of the ones I have tried have been imitations of highly processed foods (sausages and sandwich meat) which I didn’t like much when I did eat meat. It may be that I have just never found a good brand but for me I like ‘real’ vego food over imitation anything.
