If you’re trying to get pregnant or wondering if you might be, how can you tell? Other than a blood or urine test, you can listen to your body. It doesn’t always tell you the truth though, so even if you do feel as if you are pregnant, be sure to follow it with a test.
1- Fatigue: Do you feel more tired than usual? If you are pregnant, fatigue isn’t unusual because even if you can’t see anything, there are major changes going on inside. Your hormones are changing to help the fertilized egg to implant.
2- Nausea or aversion to foods or smells: Many women experience morning sickness or an intense aversion to certain smells or foods (or both). You may find that, all of a sudden, you can’t tolerate your favorite food or a food you didn’t care for before is all of a sudden calling out to you.
3- Fainting: Have you felt faint or light headed? If so, you can blame the hormones again. As well, your uterus is establishing a blood supply for the fetus, so your blood has to go further than it used to, perhaps dropping your blood pressure a bit. And, if you are experiencing symptom #2, nausea and an aversion to eating, you may not be getting enough food and your blood sugar may be too low.
4- Mood swings: Yup, blame your hormones again.
5- Bloating, cramping – premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms: Just as your hormones go out of whack when you begin menstruating, the same thing is happening at the beginning of the pregnancy.
Other signs: You may find your breasts are fuller and more tender. You may need to urinate more, and your back hurts. Or, you may have none of these symptoms at all!
