I’m all into caring for the environment and if I had to do my wedding all over again, I’d incorporate some of the tips below to ensure that I show THE LOVE for Mother Earth:

  • Insist that your caterer use local foods and that all fish served carries certification from the Marine Stewardship Council.
  • Use eco-friendly paper and vegetable-based inks for invitations.
  • Rent linens and tableware, and request that your caterer avoid one-time-use materials wherever possible. Make sure all bottles are recycled in easily accessible containers.
  • If the idea of eco-friendly wedding attire has you picturing a tie-dyed hemp tux, think again. There are plenty of places to visit for gowns and tuxes you and the planet will love.
  • Feel good about your wedding jewelry by using a fair-trade jeweler like 1700 Ocean.
  • Save chemicals and paper by sticking with digital photography and requesting digital proofs.
  • Encourage guests to make donations in your name in lieu of gifts (and do the same for them instead of wedding favors).

What about you? Do you plan to incorporate some environmentally-friendly things in your wedding?
