A great place to find information about Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving is ADEAR, Alzheimer’s Disease Education and Referral Center (http://www.nia.nih.gov/Alzheimers/Resources/ ), affiliated with the National Institute on Aging.
Here are many topics to research and information to glean in assisting you in caring for someone with AD or Alzheimer’s disease. I find this agency has much to offer the person who has hardly any knowledge of this disease, as well as someone who has been caring for an Alzheimer’s patient for a number of years.
As I look back upon my experiences in caring for Mother and Auntie, I only wish I had the knowledge then that I have now about the disease and caring for someone who has it. I can only say, acquire all the knowledge you can…it helps decrease so many of the frustrations.
