Frugal Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Being frugal is the way to go! After all, money really can’t buy you love. But when Valentine’s Day rolls around, how can you make your loved one feel special without breaking the bank? Here are some ideas.

Homemade Gifts
Some people cringe at the prospect of getting a homemade gift, but I think it depends on what you give and how. If you’ve got mad skills at something, how could your loved one feel let down with a gift you made with your own two hands? Things like scrapbooks, framed pictures, crocheted or knitting items, or even a favorite baked dish can all work wonders. These are the types of gifts where the thought really does count.

“Service” Gifts
A present where you give of your time is also a great way to celebrate February 14th. Maybe you can do chores for your special someone, or give them a back or foot rub any time they need it. Make the gift appropriate to the preferences of your partner and you’re sure to make a hit.

Jar Full of Special Notes
One of the best gifts you can give someone is the daily reminder that you love them. How about giving your partner a gift every single day? You can do that by writing down on small pieces of paper reasons you love them, memories from favorite days, or even just quirky parts of their personality that you find endearing. Have them open up one for each day of the year. What a wonderful (and frugal) way to show someone you love them.
