Last month Healthbolt gave away five DVD’s of the fascinating Food Matters documentary.
This week we are offering for ten Healthbolt readers the chance to view the Food Matters documentary online. That’s how I watched it and I’m here to tell you it’s definitely not to be missed. To find out why, read ‘Why Food Matters? A Review of Food Matters Documentary’ that I wrote after watching the film.
Winning a chance to watch Food Matters is as simple as leaving a comment by 31 October 2008 and then ten lucky readers will be chosen by random selection. Check back on Saturday 1 November 2008 and claim your prize by Monday 3rd November (if you’re a winner) by emailing Healthbolt at kiwiwriter at xtra dot co dot nz (no spaces).
And for all giveaway fans (after all, who doesn’t like free stuff), head on over to the Bloggy Giveaway carnival and check out hundreds of other giveaways that are running around cyberspace this week…

as a dietitian i love learning more about food…
Nifty.
I’m rather addicted to learning more (and more and more) about what we eat. I’m always trying to reduce the harm we do to our bodies and our planet as “civilized” Westerners. This would fascinate me to no end!
Please enter me .. I’ve heard of this and have been wanting to see it.
This looks really interesting. I have a strange love of documentaries., and a love hate relationship with food, so this might be the tie that makes my life better! Thanks for the giveaway, even if I don’t win (cause I probably won’t) rebecca342 at gmail dot com

Count me in! I’d LOVE to see it.
I would really love to watch this documentary.
I’ve been wanting to see this!!! The people who did it are GCNM graduates. I’m in GCNM’s MH course right now! I’m so excited about Food Matters!
This looks really interesting.
Over the past several weeks I have been learning more and more about environmental health as well as our eating habits. I believe Michael Pollan is leading the charge with his great books as well.
Awesome prize! Count me in!
Well, I thought it looked interesting during the first contest, and still haven’t seen it, so what the heck, I’m in for the second!
I posted about this on my blog sev’l months ago and then didn’t get around to downloading it yet so I would still love to see this film. It’s such a great thing that they made a documentary about this!
Thanks!
oooh! pick me! pick me!
Also, not trying to stock comments – but I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes during my third pregnancy. I had a pretty good idea about what nutrition would work for me (my normal healthy eating habits) – but went to the nutritionist who told me that it didn’t matter what kind of carb I had: white bread and whole grain were exactly the same. Even though my numbers were all good (excellent); my doctor wanted me to go on insulin therapy. I told him that I was uncomfortable with introducing foreign hormones into my body if my numbers were good with the nutritional therapy. He said that he guessed it would be fine, but wouldn’t I rather not worry about it? The nurse showed me how to perform the injection, because in her opinion I would need it anyway at some point. My numbers stayed where they should have been (which was an already very low standard), and I never had to take insulin. How would this have worked out if I didn’t eat as well, if I didn’t use my brain to tell me I didn’t need an invasive and expensive therapy? What would introducing those hormones do to my system in the future.
Also: had an uncle suffering from dementia. When his wife died, his kids looked at eliminating some of the medications he had been taking. When he stopped taking medications by the 1/4 cupful, guess what? The dementia was gone. This poor man had been drugged into a fog for about 10 years. He was able to live the next fifteen years a happy, active and alert man.
Not saying that this is at all true for everyone, but wouldn’t your first course of action be to look at diet as a way of healing yourself?
Oh please count me in! thanks!
I would definitely like to see this documentary – I’ll probably put it on my wishlist.
