Heart-to-Heart #12: 2006 FIFA World Cup Soccer Blog and News

This week’s Heart-to-Heart continues with FIFA World Cup fever. Here’s a news snippet I found about U.S. soccer player Eddie Pope via the 2006 FIFA World Cup Soccer Blog and News:

A string of injuries and a frightening fainting spell caused by high blood pressure had knocked him off the form that made him arguably the most celebrated defender in U.S. soccer history. Looking ahead to competing for the USA in the 2006 World Cup was the last thing on Pope’s mind. He needed to reboot his system.

“I was going game to game, never able to get to 100%,” Pope said. “I took about a two-week break completely away from soccer, and I can’t remember the last time I did that. But it was all about just trying to get healthy. Once I did that, I felt I’d be fine.”

It’s not just world class soccer players who need vacations, a hearty life should include exercise, diet, AND some time off.
