In these modern times, is it okay for a girl to take the lead in a relationship? No ask a guy out and even, to marry her? Women ask out guys all the time, and while I still think guys prefer to do the asking, sometimes they are just shy and need some indication that a girl is interested. Obviously, if she asks him out, she is interested!
But what about the marriage question?
I’ve heard of girls asking guys to marry her. The celebrity Pink is one such gal. I adore Pink, and think she’s smart, talented, and funny. Her situation was probably a little different than most of the rest of ours because she is famous and also had a kind of break up to make up situation with her boyfriend. She asked him to marry her in part to show him that she was ready for that kind of commitment. (Or so I’d heard on Behind the Music.)
But what about the average gal? What about when a girl has dated a guy for a while and he still hasn’t popped the question?
I say that if you, as a girl, are serious about getting married, you should find out where your guy is at first. There are plenty of reasons why a girl might want to ask the guy. For example, when the girl has not been ready. Maybe the guy has asked her in the past and she’s turned him down. Chances are, he’s not going to ask right away again. Or perhaps she just has needed to work through some things, so the guy is trying to be patient.
The question to me isn’t “is it okay to ask a guy to marry you” so much as it’s “is there a reason your guy doesn’t want to get married.” In other words, have some serious heart to hearts with your guy before you make a grand gesture. The reality is that when a guy wants to get married, he does the asking.

AHHHH good question!!! i don’t even know. i dont think i’d be comfortable proposing and i’d hope my guy would know that. i think it’s ok for other people though! go girls!
I think a girl can make some loud hints, like I hope on the day I get married the weather is as great as today’s is, or wouldn’t you think this entree would be great at a wedding rehearsal dinner. Hint loud!!!
Then be patient and wait for a few months. He may be working on the way he wants to ask you, or he may be trying to come up with the money to buy you that engagement ring. Yet, if he hasn’t asked and another year has gone by, and you really love him, then yes go ahead and ask, it’s better to get a no, then not knowing where you stand in my book.
