He goes by the nickname of J-Mac and he says he is, “not really that different. … It’s just the way I am. The advice I’d give to autistic people is just keep working, just keep dreaming. You’ll get your chance and you’ll do it.”
J-Mac would know because he has autism. He didn’t develop speech until he was five years-old, and now at the age of 17, he can talk about his high school career and managing a basketball team. He can also talk about his ability to play and how he saved a game with four minutes left to play!
A movie is likely to be made about J-Mac and this is the kind of story people need to see. Teenagers and adults with autism have a lot to offer our society – we just have to learn to listen to voices that sometimes do not speak as clearly as they would like to.
