Why Rebound Dating is Bad

What’s your breakup style? Do you take some time after your breakup to be by yourself and enjoy your friends and hobbies? Or do you launch right back into another relationship? Spending time alone isn’t such a bad thing. After all, taking some time after a break up (especially one as difficult as a long-term marriage) will put you in a better state of mind going into the new relationship. Here are a few reasons why it’s cool to take some time to yourself after a breakup.

Mourning Happens

The end of anything prompts a period of mourning. This is true even if you know the relationship was a bad one! It’s the end of something you were familiar with, and you have to give yourself time to get your head out of the old relationship and into the possibility of a new one. Allowing time to properly heal with make you better able to confidently into a new relationship without acting desperate.

Attraction Happens When You’re Authentic

Want to know how to attract someone great? Be yourself. Want to know why you can’t be yourself when you’ve got your ex-relationship baggage hanging around your neck? Because it takes time to get out of “relationship” mode and back to your authentic self. The one that really did like to ice skate all winter or listen to country (despite that you never did it the entire time you were with your ex.) Getting back to doing all the things you loved will help you meet someone who is just right for you.
