5 Hangover Cures That Are Gross And Don’t Work, Anyway

Despite the fact that many among us used the weekend to get out Halloween festivities moving, today is the actual day–which means plenty of spooks and ghouls will be braving rain and snow (and an early morning tomorrow) to hit the bars. And where there’s mid-week drinking, there are mid-week hangovers. But don’t be suckered into these gross hangover cures. Because they don’t work.

Being hungover is no fun–and it’s not good for you, either, because it’s usually caused by a serious bout of dehydration, coupled with your body’s belief that it’s been poisoned. But what’s even scarier than a Halloween hangover? Some of these foul, fake cures that people use to overcome what’s a pretty natural reaction to drinking too much.

If you really want to avoid a hangover after tonight’s last Halloween hurrah, be sure to eat something startchy before you head out (drinking on an empty stomach is a recipe for a rough morning), drink plenty of water throughout the night, skip sugary cocktails, and, of course, just drink in moderation.
