A single mother's fierce protection isn't enough

This article in the Washington Post left me wondering… WHY?

A mother and father do everything to keep their son safe. The father is with the police. The mother moves within a mile of her ex-husband, and the two of them cast a net of safety around their boy, allowing him to ride his bike the mile between the two houses. The mother even texts her son about the gang of boys she walked past… the same gang of boys who would cause her son’s death just minutes later.

A few punches, and the boy falls from his bike. That’s all. I can’t understand it. The boy’s parents tried so hard.

very very sad, there are evil people in this world. You cannot completely protect yourself nor your children.

I do not remember any news story that left me as sad. I feel so much for that mother. Such a sudden, brutal death. It sounds like her son always did the right thing.

Why is someone by himself on his bike on a Saturday beaten to death by two guys. What type of personality does those killers have. I hope they are prevented from more senseless attacks.
