Thursday I told you all about how blessed we are. My best friend from high school passes down all her daughter’s clothing for my daughter. Sometimes though, we end up with way more than we can use.
Sometimes I pass down the extras to others, but then there are times when I just hang on to the items until they don’t fit her any longer. You just never know when you’ll get a shirt passed down that matches the pants.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I decided to count the pairs of pants. I knew it was an unrealistic amount. I figured it was around 40. Nope.
And the total number of pants she has is . . .
:drumroll:
74 pairs of pants!!! Yep. Insane, isn’t it?
And no, I did NOT buy them for her. I think I bought her 2-3 pairs at a yard sale or consignment store. Another pair I bought for her because they were on the Wal-Mart clearance rack for $1.
The other 70 pairs were given to her. Heehee. Now that’s thrifty.

I really appreciate all the clothes Karen has given Turkey Butt!
I do various things with them. I’ve sold them at a consignment store or yard sale. I’ve given away a ton of stuff too. Kelly has benefited a bit from the clothes. The problem is that Kelly and I don’t live close to one another any more. But before we visit, I make sure I see if there’s anything to fit her little ones. Last year I gave her about 7 or 8 trash bags of stuff. Last month I mailed a box of things to Kelly. If I sell the stuff then I give the money to my friend that gave the clothes to me. She doesn’t expect the money, but I don’t think it would be right to sell them and keep the money for myself. I figure she can use the money to get more clothes that we can use.
Today we were getting dressed for church and we found some pants that are too short. She’s constantly outgrowing things. You can’t stand in a 4T forever.
not fair, i couldn’t see the whole closet when i was counting…lol. yes, that’s pretty insane!!! waht do you do with her outgrown clothes? do you donate to someone (other than goodwill, who makes a profit from your donations)…maybe you know someone from church or a friend? or you could always take them to once upon a child or whatever is near you and make enough to buy your little guy’s clothes (since she gets them passed down to her)…regardless, you have a very nice friend!!!!
That is pretty amazing! She should be pretty well set for life until the next growth spurt.
