This is an invitation to participate in two book carnivals. The original carnival, What’s on your nightstand? has become quite popular, and has inspired a book recommendation carnival from and for kids. Kid’s Picks will round up your kids’ favorite books on the third Tuesday of every month.
I am eternally grateful for books, books on tape, and Keeva planks. Since my son started reading last year, I’ve had some peace in the morning. Some weekends, I even get to sleep late! He wakes up, grabs a book, and reads for a while, or puts one of his beloved Magic Treehouse cd’s on the player and builds fantastical things out of his Keeva planks. Hours and hours of self-directed play and learning. Time for me to actually read a book that doesn’t rhyme. Heaven.

Sharlette, that’s because I’m an idiot. It’s spelled, Keva, not Keeva. and I wrote about them here.
What are Keeva planks and where can I buy them? I tried to google it, but was unsuccessful. I am always looking for building toys for my son.
It’s funny because lately Benjamin (who is just 2.7) has started playing on his own… a lot.
He actually wouldn’t come out of his room this morning. I think he’s sold his soul to Thomas the Train. But it is nice, can’t complain. And I can’t wait until he’s reading!
Right now I’m reading the Historian – VERY scary but really well written.
My kid loved the “Magic Treehouse” series, as well as the “Magic School Bus” series. Hmm, magic seems to work …
I went straight from rhyming books to parenting tween and teens books! Now I’m looking at menopause books …
*sigh*
