In a news segment that aired this morning, the Today Show recommended shopping for furniture through the Boyle’s Furniture Outlet. I checked the site and it is virtually depleted. There’s even a message stating that the outlet is working to restock after the enormous volume of sales generated by the Today Show. So, does that mean you’re out of luck? Not at all.

The Today Show also talked about buying floor sales, heading to consignment shops and checking out estate sales. Both of those options are definitely great places to find bargain prices on nice furniture. I got the cutest stools at an estate sale a few years ago.
Don’t have any luck with sales? One of my favorite places to hunt for great furniture deals is Craigslist. I’ve lost track of the number of almost new dining room sets I’ve seen offered for a fraction of the retail price. Kijiji.com also has local furniture listings. I’ve never used it to buy furniture, but I just went to the site and took a look around and there were a ton of listings for very nice looking pieces in my area.
Another place to check is your local newspaper classifieds. There are a few nice sounding ads in even my small local paper, so I imagine that a more heavily populated area would really have a lot of furniture ads in the paper.
And a final spot to check? Your local furniture rental company. I checked out a retired furniture sale once and was pleasantly surprised by how nice a few pieces, like mirrors and dining room chairs, still looked.
Where do you look for good deals on furniture?
