In the next few days, when I have a life again (end of year reports, I’m telling you!), I’m going to put together a little list of single mother must-haves. Some of you responded when I asked you what your favorite, not-so-obvious gift sources (Go read Getting out of the rut: gifts beyond the everyday). But considering the amazing audience of lurkers I seem to have here, I have little hope of garnering a response to this one.
Do I have to SHOUT?
- Where do you like to shop?
- What can’t you live without?
- What book would you recommend to a first-time mom?
- What would you give to a single mother with a teen?
Help me out. Let me know what you love and it will become a permanent page in this blog.
K thanks. I’m off to write a report now. Really.

-Where do you like to shop? They recently opened some Aldi stores in my area. I’d never heard of them before, but now I’m hooked. Of course it’s just a grocery store so that might not be what you’re really asking (for non-food I usually go somewhere cheap like Target or Walgreens). But I love the cheap prices and the fact that it’s so small you can find everything you need easily.
-What can’t you live without? The internet, my DVR and my cell phone
-What book would you recommend to a first-time mom? For a fun, get away from it all kind of read, I’d recommend the Stephanie Plum series. For actual help with being a new mom, the What To Expect books were fabulous for me, and also The Complete Single Mother.
-What would you give to a single mother with a teen? Tickets to a broadway show or local sporting event. Or on a lower budget, movie tickets or a gift certificate to a restaurant.
