When it comes to feeding your baby, the best and most healthy start is breastfeeding. Once you start feeding your baby solid foods the healthiest choice is frozen organic baby food. Why?

- Organic food is the best possible choice for little ones. Their bodies are much smaller, less developed, and less immune to harmful chemicals and pesticides than adult bodies. Pesticides in non-organics have a stronger affect on a baby than you. For more information on why babies need organics read HAPPYBABY The Organic Guide to Baby’s First 24 Months.
- Frozen veggies and fruits retain more nutrients than canned or jarred fruits and veggies and frozen baby food companies usually have proper cooking techniques, such as steaming not boiling their foods.
- Many jarred baby food, even organic brands have too much sugar and not enough healthy nutrients. A recent study showed that many jarred baby foods on the market contain trans fat and can be as much as 29 percent sugar AND have more sodium than your baby should have.
- Frozen baby food tastes better – if you’ve ever tasted the difference between a common jar of baby food and a freshly frozen cube of baby food, you’ll know what I mean. If you haven’t sampled your baby’s food, maybe you should.
My first suggestion for organic baby food is to make it yourself. It’s super easy, it’s cost effective, and if you like you can even invest in a machine like the Beaba Babycook that can help you to make healthy and fast homemade baby food even faster. That said, if you’re not going to make homemade baby food, you should buy frozen organic. You’ve got plenty of healthy choices too. Following is a sample of some of the organic frozen baby food products available.
Jack’s Harvest: baby food that’s certified 100% organic and made with seasonal fresh choices. Prepared in small batches and gently cooked and leftover scraps are composted. I would agree, making your own organic baby food is definately the way to go. It is not as time consuming as one may think and you do not have to have any high tech equipment to do so. It is rewarding to know that you are aware of everything going into your babies food, including lots of love from you.
