At least when I was married — in a difficult relationship, but still married — I could feel superior. I was sticking it out. I wasn’t like all those Hollywood types who seemed to be in and out of City Hall in a New York minute. Brad Pitt wanted a new life? Don’t we all, but I was going to tough it out, stand by my difficult man, and try to make some (diminished) life for myself. I thought they were all taking the easy way out.
I apologize. I was wrong, I had no business being all high-brow and snobby.
I’m no better than the stars. I tried my best, but in the end, I couldn’t stay married. Do you think Jennifer Aniston would like some company doing laundry next weekend? Shoot. At least she and Brad didn’t have kids together.
yeah, I’ve finally got a handle on the uncontrolled crying jags after a sweet IT person came into the office where I was temping and caught me with tears rolling down my cheeks.
Gosh, at least we don’t have a zoom lens in our face everytime we see some damn couple holding hands and well up with tears!

I wish the happiness money can’t buy were the default wealth for those of us who are not rich and famous.

You did the right thing for yourself and your child. The first step to growth is liberation from those shackles that kept you from moving forward. Unfortunately it stings pretty badly before things can get better. I applaud you for all the steps you’ve taken and are planning to take.
Everyone has their pain to bear, nobody is immune unfortunately: It’s one thing or another… but things will look up.
