We have used the same dishes since we got married 10 1/2 years ago. Our pfaltzgraff pattern has since been retired and my husband has made the comment lately that they are stained and chipped. You can’t really replace them and I said they were great! Yes, I would love to upgrade but I have other things to spend my money on.
So I was curious, how long have you had your dishes? Do you replace them when you redo your kitchen or do you use the same pattern all year round? Just curious. Tell us both in a comment and vote in the poll. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I’ve had my original everyday plates for about 10 years. I’ve had my “summertime” dollar store set for about 7years.
When we got married, I found fine china in thrift stores-different patterns but same color theme-for the reception, for the same cost as renting. I ended up giving 2/3 to charity and keeping 2 sets of 8 and one set of 6 for less than the cost of one new set of china. More than we need for everyday, but great for parties.
The mismatched china for the wedding worked beautifully…with a consistent color theme it ended up looking elegant in a shabby-chic kind of way, perfect for our afternoon, semi-formal, summertime wedding.

I have been using the same dished since my wedding almost 17 years ago! I guess I should think about new ones, but there are so many other things I like and want to spend money on! I do know an older, retired lady at my church who loves to shop for china and go to estate sales, so if I wanted to get new dishes, I would ask her to find me some and then I would not feel too bad if something got broken, because they were second-hand and cheap!
I never even got china when we got married, because I was so into being informal I made the choice not to get that and several moves later, I am glad I made that choice. But now? Maybe I should think about getting a good-looking second-hand set for dinner parties and such!

Have you checked at Replacements.com. You might be able to replace them if you love them. I still have the same dishes I got when I got married. But we mostly use paper now. I know, I know, Not green! But using all the water to wash for a family of 6 is not very green either. So for now, I’m choosing paper. Anyway, try replacements. They pretty much have everything.

Oh I forgot to say I’ve had them for 3 years and because they are multicolored, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them.

I swear by Fiestaware. We registered and received 8 sets of dishes in different colors. I can practically drop them on the ground and they won’t chip. Plus, if a plate breaks, it’s easy and pretty cheap to pick up another place setting in a fun color.
