Spending the better part of the day in bed with a good book?
How about spending the better part of the day in a bed that is a book?
House of Books, designed by world famous artist, Livio De Marchi, is a livable wood sculpture. The walls, furniture, roof; all designed around the theme of books. The original House of Books resides in the Venetian countryside. Ahhh, books, quaint houses, and Italy… So, this is what love feels like.
Livio has built two other homes made of books, (that I’ve heard of); one in Japan and another in Germany. Livio was born in Venice where he studied art and ornamental sculpture. He dabbled in marble and bronze sculpture creations and eventually turned his focus to all things wood.
And the great wooden flowers in the yard!

Livio has designed and created wooden masterpieces beyond houses made of books; beyond imagination. Visit his site to learn more and see more. Floating pumpkin carriages, shoe boats, clothing — all made of wood.
Now, how to add House of Books to my Amazon wish list???
What about you? If you could design a house around a theme, what theme would you choose?

This bed is awesome, now I can’t sleep without it, I hope .. i will buy this in future or something similar.

gw, that’s a good idea (hair=power). I just read a study about turning noise into power to light homes so who knows, it may not be that far off. And so I’m guessing no country themed homes, huh. I think it’s more rustic than country — but I can see where you’re coming from.

mmmm….too country for me

I would love to have a bed like the one pictured. I don’t think I’d want the books for a base, but the headboard is marvelous.
Count my vote for a self-cleaning house! Or at least one that ingests cat and dog hair, converting it to power.

Hi Kate, I’d love it too. Especially in Italy (I’ve got this whole Room With A View / love issue). And hey Susan, thanks for pointing out the pen…I missed that completely. That is really neat. The link to Livio’s site shows much more cool furniture — like tables, clothing, and stoves that look like books as well. This fellow’s amazing.

I love the chimney that looks like a fountain pen! That’s so clever!

Wow! I would love to live in a book.

Okay…Self cleaning. That’s a very good one. And here I was thinking of something maybe sunshiny or sparkling or maybe flowers. Not very good ideas after hearing “self cleaning”. I’ll get back to the drawing board.

hmmm..If I could design a house around one theme? Maybe something self cleaning? Or maybe using a disaster theme would work well here… :)
