don't you need a light to bright up the dark?

When I was a kid, my grandparents had night lights everywhere, it seemed. One in the bathroom, certainly. Several along the hallway leading to said bathroom. At least one in the kitchen. There is a particular shade of yellow edging into orange that will bring back the memory of those simple, plastic night lights every time. Since they lived in the country, those tiny little beacons were a comfort for me, a city kid who never actually knew what pitch black could mean until I spent the night out in the woods at my grandparents’ house. WOAH! I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.

My friends have one of those new-fangled ones that turns itself off when light hits the photoreceptor on the front. Practical, but not very… chic.

I started thinking about them today as I stumbled around my not quite dark house. “Surely,” I thought, “there must be a pretty night light out there somewhere.”

“Yes there is. And don’t call me Shirley,” grumbled my computer. Tada! Beautiful, stained glass night lights, hand made in California. I can’t decide which one I like best. But there’s definitely something from everyone, from shabby chic to babies in bonnets. Well worth the browsing, I think.

*Yawn* night night.
