Easter Decorating Ideas – DIY Coasters

Making your own Easter coasters is really simple and a fun way to add a festive touch to the coffee table when you have guests over. You can get elaborate and cut out chick, lamb, or bunny shapes, but egg coasters are so cute that I actually once bought a set and they are much easier to make. To make egg coasters, you will need:easter egg coasters

  • Scrap paper
  • 2 pieces of felt
  • Craft glue
  • Rickrack

Once you’ve gathered all of your supplies, you will need to:

  1. Use the scrap paper to create an oval template that is big enough so that you can sit a coffee cup on it.
  2. Cut two ovals from your felt pieces.
  3. Glue the ovals together.
  4. Use the rickrack to “decorate” your Easter egg.

Repeat until you have as many coasters as you need. I like to change things up by decorating them with flowers cut out from a piece of crocheted lace or Easter related die cuts. (I run a piece of felt through my Sizzix machine to make them.) It is fun to let kids make their own coasters and, since we only use glue, anyone who can use scissors can do the whole project with very little help.

Now, if I can just figure out what we did with them…They aren’t in with the rest of the Easter decorations from last year. Hence, the photo. (I always wanted to use hence in a sentence…)
