Esperanza, single mothers. That means 'hope'

Two sides of the same coin. Women and musicians, both. Amazing women. You need to hear them both. Please.

Meet Esperanza Spalding, unofficial angel of the 21st Century. I’ve never been so gobsmacked in all my life. She’s heaven incarnate. She’s every avenging angel who never used a sword. She’s breath. She’s air. She’s essential to life. Listen and love, women all. She knows. I give you Precious, her attempt at a ‘pop’ song. If this is pop, play on, Esperanza, you give me hope.

I’m sorry if I let you down/But I’m not gonna sit around and waste my precious divine energy/Trying to explain and being ashamed of things you think are wrong with me

And if you’re in a musical mood, and have room to buy more than one CD, I’d love it if you’d listen to what Rose Robbins has to sing for you. I often get her lovely Whisper stuck in my head, and hope some day to sing it to someone special, meself.

Rose was, until last weekend, a single mother to five children. Now she’s found her heart’s desire, and they sure could use a boost right about now. The economy is hitting hard. If you know someone who needs a lift, deserves a present, or loves music, give them the gift of each of these amazing womens’ music. You won’t be disappointed.
