I am constantly in amazement of all the new things that are coming available for our enjoyment and convenience. It was interesting to learn that some people are now shopping by text. Now, we welcome the convenience of no longer losing coupons.
There is now a company called CellFire.com that allows you to get coupons sent directly to your cell phone. Even better, these coupons can be scanned at the register straight from your phone! Crazy, huh?
Although this technology is new, it promises to deliver advertising that you can count on. For example, both Google and Nokia want to deliver targeted ads to your cell phone. So if you’re driving down the street past a pizza place, you’ll get coupon for that store sent your phone. This will help advertisers track who redeems their coupons and help them avoid the expenses of printing and distributing old-fashioned coupons that could go unused.

While CellFire.com is free, your wireless carrier may charge a fee when you use the service. See the company’s terms of service for more information.
Thanks to Clark Howard for the info.
So, what do you think of this new technology? Given its convenience, do you think you’d use a service like this?

I’ve read about this…
I work for a company that deals in digital signage and we have looked at a vendor that can implement something similar into a digital signage network (where people will get messages based on what’s displayed on the sign).
From a marketing point of view, this is a great thing to be able to offer your clients.
From the customer point of view…I’m waivering. I love a good deal just like anybody else (see my website). If stuff like this does take off, we’ll need filters on our cell phones to filter out the spam (just like on our email).
I guess like most things in life, if it’s done in moderation, it’s probably ok.
