Fun After School Snacks~ Jello Jigglers

We did our back to school shopping today, so I think the reality has set in for my son that he’s heading back to school in a few weeks. It always seems like he’s starving as soon as he hits the door, so I like to have some easy, fun treats ready for him to snack on as soon as he gets home.

One of his favorite after school snacks is Jell-o Jigglers. He likes to help make them, and eat them. If we make them one afternoon we have an after school snack for the whole week. I love recipes he can help me make, because I can always throw in a little math lesson with the recipe measurements (don’t tell him that).

Jell-o Jigglers are celebrating their 20 year anniversary. I even remember them being a summer favorite when I was younger, I think that’s why I still enjoy them so much with my son.

They’re so versatile, you can make them in any flavor, and add fresh fruit if you want to. My son’s favorite add ins are strawberries, and mandarin oranges. Here’s the recipe courtesy of Jell-o and Kraft Foods:

Fun Healthy Tips From Jell-o:

  • Make a fruit salad to offer each person as they enjoy their Jell-o® Jigglers® treat. Kids really go for this fun dessert. While they’re cutting out their favorite shapes, you can prepare a fruit salad
  • The Jell-o® Jigglers® scraps remaining in the pan after the cutouts are done can be refrigerated in a tightly covered container and then tossed together with cut-up fruit for a colorful dessert the whole family will love.
  • Substitute your favorite fruit juice for the water. Bring juice just to boil before stirring into the gelatin.
  • Make it easy! Instead of cutting out with cookie cutters, cut the Jell-o® Jigglers® into 1-inch cubes.

Substitute:
Prepare as directed, using 4 pkg. (4-serving size each) Jell-o Gelatin.
To Halve: Prepare as directed, using 8- or 9-inch square pan and cutting all ingredients in half. Makes 1 doz.
or 12 servings, 1 Jigglers® each.
