Go to Work Without Brushing Your Teeth

Sure, working from home sounds idyllic, but it isn’t all about sleeping late, not showering, and lounging around your slippers. Whether you’re a writer, a Web designer, an accountant, or a social media expert, working at home has some serious pros and cons.

Hello, Family!
Pro: Eliminate the expense of daycare by working from home, and spend more time with the kids.
Con: Just try to concentrate on a project with a baby on your lap and a toddler tugging at your pant leg.

Money, Money, Money
Pro: Save money on gas by telecommuting. And of course, you won’t have to spend much on your wardrobe.
Con: Buy your own office supplies and pay for high-speed Internet. Plus, self-employment taxes can be frightening.

The Hours
Pro: You don’t have to show up at an office everyday at 9 a.m., and no one complains when you take two-hour lunches. Bonus: No busybody co-workers stopping by your desk to gossip.
Con: Temptations from things around the house (cluttered closets, The Young and the Restless, getting laundry done), may be too much for you. It’s all about discipline.
