This morning, Khloe Kardashian opened up about her plans to start a family and the infertility rumors that are swirling around that–including the creepy fertility treatments that are trying to buy her business. Since when is celebrity status an open invitation for others to get involved with their most personal affairs?
In an interview with the Today show, Khloe starts out by saying that her husband, Lamar Odom, has always been supportive, but she was shocked to discover he was jealous of her sister Kourtney Kardashian‘s second pregnancy.
It’s always in the plan for Lamar and I to start a family. It broke my heart to hear that because I didn’t think he felt that way.
She goes on to say that they are taking it one step at a time and not seeking fertility treatments, even though there are so many rumors out there about that:
Definitely we want kids, you know what, we really are, just like when it happens, it happens. People have so many rumors out there that I’m doing all these fertility treatments. Yesterday actually I got sent all these bouquets of flowers to my condo in Dallas, and I read the card, and it’s from three different fertility treatments saying I hope you try us out. I was like this is a little presumptuous.
Presumptuous, indeed.
I understand the premise of a reality show, but I do wish some personal details would be kept private. Trying to conceive is stressful enough, but when that gets turned into a pubic spectacle, it just seems wrong. No one needs to be analyzing a woman to see if she’s “pregnant yet”, if she has a “baby bump”, how long it’s taking her or if she needs fertility treatments. We know from previous research that a woman in her 20s only has a 20-29% chance of getting pregnant each month with unprotected sex, so this is not something that even younger woman can expect to happen right away.
But this goes for Khloe and Lamar, too. Do they really have to talk about every aspect of their lives? Because by doing so, they are just opening themselves up to more creepy fertility treatment centers trying to win their business–something they are obviously not interested in because Khloe closes by saying they are “trying it the old fashion way.”
