Kitchen Storage Solutions

Here another idea to add to your New Year resolution or goal list. We all know how easy it is to let things pile up, right?  Let’s start out this year by putting storage solutions in place now. I have a few very unique and cool ideas for making your kitchen “clutter free.”

When arranging your kitchen cabinets try something new. All of the cookware should have an assigned place to make it easier to put you hand on when needed. Put all frying pans together, all 2 and 3 quart pans together and all of your pasta/stew pots together.

Don’t stack or nest your mixing bowls. Put cereal bowls, serving bowls and storage container with like objects. That way it is easier to put you hands on what you need in no time at all.

If you have a “County” themed kitchen, think about using a country style armoire for storage. They have lots of shelves and can handle heavy items.

Have a collection of cookbooks? Place shelves above windows or doorways and place them there with the spine showing. When you need a certain book you’ll be able to see exactly where it is.

Here’s a cool idea I just came across. Take out the shelving from one cabinet and make a wine cellar in a cabinet. Cut two pieces of plywood and slot them half way through the wood. Assemble them diagonally so that them form an X.  Lie the bottles horizontally. Instant wine storage.

For those who have a pantry closet or a walk in pantry, install a door operated switch so that the light comes on automatically. Better yet, pick up one of those instant touch lights that you see on television.

I’ll be back with more tips for storage in a few days.

Take care. I’ll talk to you soon!
