Country singer Miranda Lambert called out Grammy producers for welcoming Chris Brown back to the awards ceremony just three years after he beat up girlfriend Rihanna the night before the 2009 ceremony. Cheers to Lambert, for echoing a sentiment that’s been gaining momentum online since Brown’s performance at the Grammy’s last Sunday night.
“And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl …” Lambert tweeted.
“Not cool that we act like that didn’t happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys.”
I had to look up “Gunpowder and Lead”—it’s the name of a 2007 song by Lambert, about a woman who plans to shoot her abusive husband when he gets out of jail. Here you go:
Meanwhile, Brown wrote in a tweet that has since been removed:
“Hate all you want becuz I got a Grammy now. That’s the ultimate F*&k off!”
Which doesn’t exactly sound like a man who thinks he’s done anything wrong in beating on his girlfriend. It’s a depressingly common this week—yesterday, Hugh Hefner hoped his son Marston Hefner and girlfriend Claire Sinclair could just “patch things up” after Marston assaulted her.
And far far away from Playmates and Grammy awards, back in the real world (or Washington, D.C., at least), Republican senators are voting against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Amanda Terkel at Huffington Post explains:
… the reauthorization would place an increased emphasis on reducing domestic homicides and sexual assault, strengthen housing protections for domestic violence victims and focus more on the high rates of violence amongst teens and young adults.
The objections, led by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and a few conservative organizations, are not over the VAWA as a whole, but over a few new provisions in the reauthorization — specifically, protections for LGBT individuals, undocumented immigrants who are victims of domestic abuse and the authority of Native American tribes to prosecute crimes.
It’s the first time since VAWA was enacted in 1994 that it didn’t receive bipartisan backing out of committee.

ok nobody even knows who miranda lambert is and she is just trying to make herself known at his expense – kind of like that overblown tylor swift and kanye west story. nobody needs to listen to ur awful music lambert. unless you were chilling with chris brown and rihanna in that car in 2009, you have nothing to say. there are indeed two sides to every story so i am not sure why are we all sitting here discussing these ppl’s lives like we are a part of it.
If we take all the assult charged people off the stages it would be a pretty empty stage..Lambert just needs to shut up, two sides to every story and Brown has paid his dues and wants to move on..she is just a man hater and home wrecker used to buy her music but not anymore…
Chris Brown is an angry black man – product of an abusive bqckground himself ! Miranda
Lambert is right on this one , although she, herself, is an adulterous little tart whose mama was probably a whore too ! In each instance, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree !!!!!
oh shut up Miranda.. she’s a homewrecker.. stole someone’s husband.. she got with Blake when he was still a married man… yeah.. not cool that we act like that didn’t happen Miranda.. fucking white country bitch.
Ala is right. I’ve a feeling Rhi is guilty of domestic violence as well, but nothing was done about that one.
Yes, it is terrible that CB is allowed to perform. It is also sad to look at listen to someone sing about love when they don’t know the meaning of it. Self gratification is all they can think of. ME, ME, ME. They don’t care who they hurt. KARMA.
you want to talk about self gratification? while rihanna is openly promoting sex drugs and rock and roll.. and publicly states that she could not care less about how people would react if she was to go back with CB?.. while rihanna made millions of selling her assault story whereas most of us would rather want to deal with that kind of issue as quietly as possible?..
Who are we to judge Chris Brown? Miranda Lambert is not qualified to speak on someone else’s transgressions. She’s an adulteress. Who does the woman think she is. Sounds like she’s envious to me. Many performers have committed domestic abuse or other bad behavior. If they banned artist due to personal transgressions, there’d probably be very few artists that would qualify to participate in the grammy ceromonies.
Oh and ladies stop hitting men as well, we are NOT thr only victims, I watched a women beat a mans ass and he didn’t report it just for the sake of saving his “manhood” but if he was to sick the ahit out of her he would be considered an abuser because when he was trying to et out of that situation she took a knife to his back and told him if he moved she would stab him, crazy fuckin ladies and yet we give men a heard time, we do that shot too! Open your fuckin eyes world! Shit is not one sided. Ladies want to complain about equal rights but once a lady beats a mans ass it goes unnoticed! Wow!
Why are people so cruel or is it that more than half of society are just pure bullies with bitter lives who love to continuously hurt people who have done something wrong and are trying to do right by it. I thought as a human being we credit those who do right by their wrongs? and we help them along so they stay on track. Either I’m wrong or I have to share this beautiful world with many hateful people who don’t give credit or support those who need a pat on the back when they’re doing good. As long as Chris Brown keeps doing great I’m there for him and I’ll never support ganging up on him!
Why don’t we ever allow people to move forward? Granted he made a big mistake but as humans we are suppose to forgive each other, yes he beat on a girl but even she has forgiven him. It’s not my job to forgive him, it’s not my job to judge him either. Why don’t we all tell the world what we do in our own backyards, some of us may need to call the police ahead of time, we all have done shit we are not proud of, I don’t think ANYONE forgot what he did, but I do believe we can let him move forward, his consequences are up to GOD not only him but EVERY WOMEN ABUSER OUT THERE! Get a life already he’s living his.
I think this post gets exactly to the point, here–it’s not about crucifying Chris Brown, it’s about the fact that there are real consequences to ignoring domestic violence…like more domestic violence.
Telling your fans and patrons (the media for instance because they pander to every whiff you take of the puff pastry in the morning) are losers no matter how tempting it is can never in the end keep you in the ever shifting game of ‘here today and gone tomorrow,’ alumni.
So for all you homophobic, yellow loving Lamborghini, self pitying and girlfriend beating bixches on the way up- beware, cause as fun as it is to be on top, the trip on the way back down is pretty hellish too.
