Nominate for Be Kind to Animals Week

Be Kind to Animals Week has been observed each year since 1915!

It’s coming up again in May, and you can be a part of it by nominating a “Kind Kid” for American Humane’s Be Kind to Animals Kid Contest. The contest recognizes the humane leaders of tomorrow who are already making a difference for animals today.

Nominated kids should be ages 6 to 17 who are working in their communities to help improve the welfare of animals. To nominate a kid for the contest, you must be 18 or older and the child’s legal guardian. If you’re not the guardian, you should have written permission from the child’s guardian before nominating.

For details on how to nominate and official rules, visit American Humane. Parents may enter online, while others will mail in forms. Entries must be received by April 15.

Winners for 2010 will be announced during Be Kind to Animals Week, which takes place May 2-8.

There are several ways you can be kind to animals: adopt from a shelter, volunteer at or donate to a shelter, report animal abuse, and be sure to take great care of your own pet.
