Oh man, is it that time already?

Between packing and moving and getting settled into the new job and and and

It’s April 13th and I haven’t done my taxes yet.

They are simple. I made a little bit of money, and paid taxes as I went along. Should be simple, no? But the Feds only sent me the 1049 EZ form in the mail, and so I’ve got to go online and do it. I’m much more of a pencil and paper kind of kid. Ah well.

So forgive me while I scramble. I’ll teach you how to make pan seared Bay scallops with whole wheat penne tomorrow, I promise. Right now I’m really feeling the crunch of it, and am indeed feeling the crunch of bearing all the responsibility with only half the amount of time I used to have.

I’ve never written about the tag line to SoloMother, have I? “All the responsibility. Half the time.” There are a myriad of ways to read it, I suppose. Half time parent? or are you working with half the amount of time you used to have to devote to things when you were in a partnership, and could divvy up jobs? And what about all the responsibility… it could be referring to the burden of being a 24/7 single parent… or it could be a reminder that just because you split, doesn’t mean you get to walk away. You’re still stuck with each other, in most cases, til the kid reaches age and flies the coop.

What does the tag line say to you?
