Peonies In Bloom

Pink Peonies Peonies have spectacular blooms, just in time for summer. My pink ones are in full bloom, and my white peonies are thinking about it. I’ll probably have more photos in a day or two.

Peonies are easy to grow, and my garden wouldn’t be the same without their late May to early June showy blooms. They don’t need divided often, only once every eight to ten years. If you want to divide them fall is the best time. If you leave them a few years, they form a beautiful green hedge even when they’re not in bloom.

Peonies enjoy the full sun, but they will also tolerate a little shade. They’re definitely worth planting in your flower garden for their stunning, showy blooms. They’re also beautiful in a vase as cut flowers, don’t forget to throw in a little greenery.

Sandy-that’s very true, I hadn’t thought of that.

Jane Marie-The photo was taken over the weekend. Many of my peonies are lying on the ground now too after the storms that came through Monday night and Tuesday:(

Your peonies look just like mine, except after careful tying up they are lying on the ground. Nasty, wicked, storm!!

Peonies are also a nice tie with our past. They thrive much longer than most plants. I have peonies in my yard that are more than 100 years old.
