Rosebud Memory Box

We all need a pretty box to keep our trinkets in and I have the perfect project for you today. It is a rosebud memory box and it will look beautiful on your dresser. You can use this box to hold such things as letters, jewelry or even makeup, whatever you wish.

Here is what you will need to get started:

  • 7-8 inch square paper mache or wooden box
  • 1 spray of rosebuds – for one variation (I made this one)
  • 25 small roses – for another variation
  • 1 spray of leaves – whatever size you prefer
  • Forest green acrylic paint
  • A hot glue gun and glue sticks, or craft glue
  • Ribbon (optional)
  • A foam brush
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors

Paint the box and lid inside and out with the forest green paint. Let it dry according to the label directions. You can usually put a second coat on, using acrylic paint, in about an hour.

Cut the leaves from the stems of the spray and glue them to the front and sides of the box, overlapping them. You can also put small leaves on the edge of the lid. I didn’t because my box had a scalloped edge on the lid and I thought that looked better than the greenery. The leaves should be touching.

For the lid: the version I did was to take a handful of the rosebuds and position them from the right back corner forward to cover half of the lid. You can cover the entire lid with rosebuds, placing them in rows across the top of the box. You can also use a different color bud for each row. They all look pretty.

Glue the buds, using a hot glue gun, positioning them the way you desire. To give it an extra touch, tie some ribbon around the top of the box, not the lid, and secure it in the back. Enjoy!
