In today’s highly disturbing news, an HIV-positive Michigan man admitted that he has intentionally been trying to infect as many people as he could. Now charged with felony sex offenses, 51-year-old David Dean Smith says he had up to 3,000 sexual partners while knowingly having the disease.
Health officials have issued an alert warning that “possibly hundreds of people have been exposed to HIV” after Smith turned himself in last week admitting that he had unprotected sex with as many people as he could over the last three years with the intention to kill them.
One of the victims says she was diagnosed with HIV in October 2008. The woman told police that she met Smith through an ad on the Yahoo! Personals website. She called him “a predator” and “a sociopath” after Smith told her that he had sex with as many as 3,000 people, including men and women.
He hits drifters. He hits people who are young. He hits young women, and from what I understand, he hits men, too. Those are his targets.
The woman said Smith sent her a text message letting her know that he was going to surrender to police. The message read: “Turning myself into the law, my life is over. Take care. Always love you.”
Since his arraignment last week, Smith was admitted to a mental health hospital because he was “suicidal” and had tried to kill himself at least once. Apparently, the hospital determined that Smith is “sexually aroused by causing pain to females.”
If this is not a lesson in practicing safe sex and knowing the history of your partner, I don’t know what is. Having sex with 3,000 people is creepy enough, but someone who does so to intentionally infect others with HIV deserves to be locked up for life. Where is Lorena Bobbitt when we need her?

I find it hard to believe this guy could pick up 10 women over a hundred year span. Another reason why love is best found offline!
