How many of you have been reading this blog since the beginning? Do you remember an interview I did of a single mother of five?
Well, Rose is happily re-married to a wonderful man, and her ex is re-married as well. Rose has enrolled in college and recently won fourth place (out of 700) for a speech she gave on abuse as part of her speech class assignment.
She is also, still, a musician, and though we’re still waiting for her to mix and release her second CD, her first on is worth a listen. I’m going to buy several to give as Christmas presents this year.
Give Rose a listen. My favorite songs are Whisper and Close Your Eyes; she also has a very powerful song about living with abuse (Pale Yellow Rose) that makes me catch my breath every time I hear it. Her music is for sale at CDBaby and I’d recommend picking up a copy, for yourself and a friend. You’ll support a former single mother, independent artist, and incredible woman.
As you shop for holiday presents this season, I implore you to look to small merchants in your neighborhood. I’m sure Target and Walmart can get along just fine without us, but the independent owners of bookstores, toy stores, coffee shops, and the like, will go under without our support during these difficult times.
