My apartment is a disaster in the happiest of ways: toys all over the living room and the byproducts of making my mother’s birthday cake from scratch litter the whole of the kitchen counter. My bed is once again covered in clothing, and I’m still digging out from under the pile of mittens left behind by the Blizzard of ‘09.
My family and friends, so many people who love me, were generous and thoughtful this year, and I am blessed.
But I didn’t get myself a single thing for the holidays this year. I’ve got a 12 days of Christmas wish list…
Here’s what I should have given myself for the holidays:
- Twelve hours sleeping
- Eleven bags of groceries
- Ten toenails painted
- Nine mortgage payments
- Eight baby sitters
- Seven brand new bras
- Six seafood dinners
- FIVE PAIRS OF SHOOOOOOES!
- Four calling cards
- Three lunch dates
- Two glasses of wine
- And a maid who could clean it all up.

[...] little late on my part — Christina at Solo Mother writes about a “Single Mother’s 12 Days of Christmas”. Very funny, and true, [...]
So funny you brought this up because let’s be honest…it’s the moms that make Christmas happen! I know Christmas is over but I hope you can at least make a couple of those things happen for the New Year. Happy 2010.
Copy away, lady. I know I can at least get the two glasses of wine. The rest? total fantasy!
I love that! mind if I copy it?
I wish it for you also!
