Things I am thankful for in the midst of my life

Karen has been feeling overwhelmed recently.  I can totally agree!  There are days when we as parents can get overwhelmed.  I have been accused of living in rose colored glasses but here are a few things to think about when you get overwhelmed.

  1. Be thankful that you have chaos in your home as this means that you have a home to live in.
  2. Be thankful that your kids are acting crazy as this means you have healthy, safe kids in your home where you can watch them.
  3. Be thankful that your kitchen is a wreck as this means you have the means to put food in your kitchen.
  4. Be thankful that you have trash piling up as this means you are able to buy things for your family as the boxes are empty.
  5. Be thankful that your toilet has overflowed (I know this is a stretch) as this means you have a toilet to sit on instead of squatting outside.  Sorry but I prefer my bathroom than an outhouse if I can pick.
  6. Be thankful that you have heartburn as this means you are able to afford something to eat.
  7. Be thankful that your clothes might be out of style or too tight as this means you still have clothes that cover your body.
  8. Be thankful that your laundry is piling up as this means you have plenty of clothes to choose from.
  9. Be thankful for meddling inlaws as you still have inlaws to disagree with.
  10. Be thankful for your bills as this means you still have a couple of pennies to rub together.  It’s your choice as to how to share them.

So hang in there all of you who are overwhelmed.  It does get better tomorrow.  Or at least next year.

  1. There are kids in Haiti right now walking miles to try to get water for their families from a clean drinking source. Yes, we have so much to be thankful for.
