There are tons of after Christmas sales going on. Some of you are finding great deals but may be wondering what in the world someone would do with that stuff. Here are a few suggestions that might help you take advantage of the tremendous savings.
Party supplies - My cousin’s sweet 16 party colors were silver, black, and white and the party was less than a month after Christmas. We took advantage of after Christmas sales to purchase silver decorations. You can pick up silver ribbon, silver beaded garland, hurricane lanterns, wine glasses, and other things that would work well for weddings.
Gifts for weddings - Most newlywed couples don’t have many Christmas decorations and would appreciate some things to get them started on their first Christmas. Try to consider the couple’s style and taste when purchasing things for them. I have also purchased “First Christmas” ornaments (non-dated ones) after Christmas for great deals. I always receive a bright smile when I give these as gifts.
Help the needy - Yesterday, I discussed some ideas for helping those in need, including Operation Christmas Child and Toys for Tots.
Splurge items - My husband and I don’t usually purchase expensive chocolates and other treat items. We usually take advantage of after Christmas sales to purchase our favorite chocolates and special snack items, such as Hickory Farms.
After Christmas gifts - I know that some people get together with friends and family after Christmas. If this is the case, you can purchase your gifts now and save lots of money. And if there’s someone that you thought about buying for but didn’t, this would be a good opportunity. Perhaps you’d like to put something in your mailbox for your mail carrier. Or maybe school was cancelled on the last day because of snow. You could get something nice for the teachers.
Pre-buy for upcoming gifts - Many stores have already begun to clearance out their overstock of toys. I really enjoy it when Target’s toys become 75% off. I use these for Easter basket fillers, upcoming birthdays, and sometimes for the following Christmas.
Purchase wanted Christmas decorations - I am not one to purchase table runners, garland, Christmas village things, and other decorations at full price. Clearance sales provide me an opportunity to add a little something to my Christmas decorations each year.
