But something stuck in his sugar-bomb, Spongebob-addled brain: Zhu Zhu pets. He’s been asking for one. Since November.
When he started talking about them yesterday, they stuck in my head, too, and today I half-heartedly took a look on the Net, thinking that, like Cabbage Patch Kids of my generation, they would be impossible to find.
The real estate, merchandise, real estate and bling these little robot rodents pull down in staggering. Scateboards that do U-turns. Habitrails that make Barbie’s dreamhouse look like a dump. A slide! A hamster wheel — and a hamster ball! Beds and blankets!
My mind is still numb. I don’t even know if I bought him anything or not.
Seeking some relief, I moseyed on over to the Bakugan side of the Web…

Jennifer, I just caved and ordered mine from Amazon. I hear rumors that the little robot rodents can be found at a local drug store, but I’ve had it. Door to door delivery, please.
Sometimes, I must admit that my son’s autism is a blessing! He couldn’t care less what’s “hot” right now. I’m just completely glad he’s a boy, satisfied with $1 hot wheels instead of $15 barbies, etc..
So did you end up finding one?! Did you get it a souped up dreamhouse or ball to zip around in too? LOL It’s insanity.
I had to laugh at this bc my son goes nuts when the zhu zhu commercials come on. Same thing w/the Bakugans! He’s only 3.5. *sighs*
Jennifer, I caved and got the starter house with hamster. Put the rest on his wishlist. Sent it to grandparents and uncles and such. I am DONE with those things.
But will be the one cleaning them up!!
Anna… I’m pretty lucky in that my kid only watches cartoons on Saturday mornings and doesn’t get sucked into the kids channels every day. But yeah, I hear you. Sponge Bob is particularly heinous to me!
LOL I caved and got just the one zhu zhu for mine, and he might get the hamster ball if I can bear to brave TRU this time of year (not). Otherwise, it’s wait and see if he even plays with it before investing in anything else! I totally understand @ cleaning them up. LOL
